Expocómic 2016: Star Wars & Alien

This year Expocómic was dedicated to many science fiction works like Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad… but the two things that attracted people the most were Star Wars and the upcoming Alien: Covenant!

Among many activities which promoted Star Wars and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016, Dir. Gareth Edwards), Versus Madrid appealed to people of all ages. The stage combat showed all the Star Wars spirit which seemed like watching a theater play and all the movies from the past to come back to live.

The second event was to take countless selfies and group photos with the two statues from Alien to promote not only H. R. Giger’s Xenomorph but also Stan Winston’s Predator. It was remarkable how the second statue was completely made of metal like the one seen in Hotel Hananoyu (Shizuoka, Japan).

Finally, even though this was a day for comics, Expocómic also included many other activities related to music, videos and even sports! For example, Tripe W (White Wolf Wrestling) offered amazing exhibitions.

National Geographic: Mars

National Geographic magazine of November presents the new Mars series which will premiere on November 14^th. The trailer introduces the plot like other epic movies about Mars, like the Martian (2015), but without any fantasy / scifi elements behind it (too bad it cannot be like in John Carter, 2012). So far the purpose is to entertain and at the same time show the possible travel which could occur on 2033. Knowing how hard is it to understand everything that needs to be done to actually travel there, it is expected that the series brings on amazing imagery: It should include the positive aspects such as the Martian landscapes and new homes and at the same time some of the negative ones like the health impact it would cost to the team. Hopefully, the series will cause to increase people’s interest to go to Mars and beyond!
